Academic Transition Program
The Academic Transition Program (ATP) is designed to prepare international students who have typically completed a high school diploma and aspire to pursue undergraduate studies at Canadian post-secondary institutions. ATP aims to deepen students’ appreciation and understanding of Canadian socio-cultural and academic norms while equipping them with post-secondary-level English and academic skills necessary for a smooth and successful transition into Canadian undergraduate studies.
What is a Academic Transition Program?
The ATP offers a combination of two (2) content-based English language courses and two academic skills courses that prepare ESL students to become effective communicators and collaborators and to build a strong foundation on the learning modalities at Canadian university setting.

Yes and they are transferable to many institutions in BC and Canada.
You may choose to repeat or we will try to get you into a college program.
No. You don’t. ATP meets the English requirement for many institutions.

The ATP is a 36-contact hour program like regular university programs.
We don’t recommend you working during the intensive learning period.
The tuition include books and all the classes. It does not include accommodation and meals.
3 credits to UBC and 6 to SFU.
No. It is a program shorter than 6 months so it is not required study permit.
ATP is an accelerated program with a lower fee and value-added support. Reference the program advantages.
The program is taught by both IH teachers and partner professors.
ATP is an undergraduate prep program. It is not intended for masters’ programs.
Yes. We can assist you to apply to 3 universities.
We can always support the ATP student to do so.
No. Unless you enroll in a career program after completing ATP.
ATP prepares students to meet university admission requirements. ATP students are not usually qualified to enter university when they register in ATP.
