International Experience Canada (IEC) Program

Work and Study in Canada with the International Experience Canada program. The International Experience Canada program facilitates international work and travel experiences for young Canadians and foreign nationals.  As of 2024, Languages Canada is a designated Recognized Organization (RO) of the Government of Canada’s International Experience Canada program. IH Vancouver has partnered with Languages Canada, as one of only eight institutions offering this unique work-study program for young people. 2025 Quota Coming Soon!

What is International Experience Canada (IEC) Program?

The Languages Canada (LC) Consortium offers access to the International Experience Canada (IEC) Program (work and travel for up to two year) open work permit, combined with a unique package that includes:

  • A minimum of 12 weeks of intensive English language study.
  • A range of employment preparation and placement supports, including CV writing, interview coaching, job fairs and pre-screened work placements.
  • Optional add-on services include providing accommodations (e.g. homestay placement), social and cultural excursions, transportation, and tours to Canadian postsecondary institutions.
  • Work and Study in Canada

Upon Completion Student Will Receive

  • A 1–2-year Canadian open work permit, see the IEC website (Check your eligibility, each country has different criteria – some allow up to 2 additional participations, sometimes in different categories)
  • The IH twelve-week ESL study with the foci on business client relations and hospitality
  • Job interview workshops and coaching
  • Career opportunities in Canada
  • Cultural and social experience
Program Information

For Ages 18 – 35 years

Upon completion of the programs, students will

  • Improve English language skills from an acclaimed school
  • Immerse in Canadian culture
  • Explore Vancouver and Canada
  • Gain Canadian work experience and advancement of career prospects
  • Foster global friendships
  • Build confidence and cultural awareness
  • Work and Study in Canada
Admission Requirements
  • Valid for young people aged 18 to 35 years old
  • Country or territory of citizenship has a Youth Mobility Agreement (YMA) with Canada – check here
  • Must have a minimum of CAD $2,500 to cover initial expenses in Canada
  • A round-trip ticket or proof of sufficient funds to cover departure
  • Participation in a minimum 12-week ESL study program
Duration

A minimum of 12 weeks ESL study followed by up to two-year open work permit with a possibility of two additional IEC participations depending on your eligibility

*Students who enroll in a language program which is six months or less in duration or for which tuition is less than $4,000 may not make a claim against the Student Tuition Protection Fund, which is managed by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.  Further, this language program may not have been reviewed or approved by PTIB.

Class starts week from Monday – Friday.
